Pandit Sankha Chatterjee (Tabla)

Pandit Sankha Chatterjee is one of the senior most Tabla maestro of India. He consider himself very fortunate being the only musician who had the privilege to learn from the greatest tabla maestros like USTAD MASEET KHAN, USTAD KARAMATULLA KHAN and USTAD ALLARAKHA KHAN in Guru-Sishya Parampara tradition, and thus got the opportunity to master the most important aspects of the three oldest School of Tabla GHARANAS; such as FARUKKABAD, DELHI & PANJAB. He has created unique style of Tabla playing - a synthesis of the knowledge from his GURUS and own creative ideas. Pandit Chatterjee has performed with all the great musicians of India, Europe and America since 1955. He has numerous disciples all over India, Europe, America and Canada and quite a few of them are already established and reputed in the Music world. He is a former teacher of Hochschule Der Künste University of Berlin and Rabindra Bharati University of Fine arts at Kolkata.


Riccardo Battaglia (Introduction to Indian Music)

WORKSHOP OF INTRODUCTION TO INDIAN MUSIC, for advanced and beginners students of guitar, sitar, sarod, piano, etc and composers. Teacher: RICCARDO BATTAGLIA (sarod)

The workshop will illustrate techniques and basic estethic of instrumental indian music, with particular attention to improvisation ability and to melodic and rhythmic structure of raga. The workshop is recommended to students which already practice indian music and also to musicians who are interested to expand their approach to instrumental/improvisation/composition technique through indian music basic techniques. As the approach of the workshop is mainly practical we request you to partecipate with your instrument. Riccardo Battaglia musician and teacher, after many years in India (where he attained a Master's Degree in instrumental Music in Bombay University), has teached at Bombay University and at Enschede Conservatory (Holland). Nowa-days he teaches Sarod and Raga analysis at "A.Pedrollo" Vicenza Conservatory.


Nuria Sala Grau (Bharatanatyam Dance-Theatre)

"Bharatanatyam" Dance-Theatre, one of the jewels of indian culture, has its roots in Shamkya philosophy and in south India hindu temples rituals. It developed through ages in a refined discipline. The workshop is open to those who already know Bharatanatyam and to those who want to start or approach a new dance-theatre technique.
NURIA SALA GRAU: born in Barcelona, studied classical and modern dance in Losanna, Paris, Lyon. During 13 years she specialized in Bharatanatyam (indian classical dance-theatre) with Krishnaveni Lakhsmanan in India (Chennai) and Italy, and with Kamala Rani she studied nattuvangam and music. She graduated in Spain as Humanistic Psychotherapy and in Italy as Dance Theacher. Since 1989 she teaches dance, at the same time carries out lots of activities as dancer and choreographer in different artistic and cultural projects. Bharatanatyam indian dance Teacher at "A.Pedrollo" Vicenza Conservatory, at Gabriella Cella Yoga Institute and at her own studio "Natya-Tala". She leads many workshop in Italy and abroad. She regularly collaborates with many international artists.

THE WORKSHOP will take place in the beautiful Monastery of “Madonna della Rocca” in Fondi (Latina). The structure is immersed in the green landscape of mount Arcano that was the site of a monastic Benedectine comunity in XI century. The whole building will be at our disposal, given by the church of S.Maria degli Angeli in San Magno, where interesting cultural activities are held.

Costs: €.540 all included (lodging, food and lessons). You only have to add €.6 for sheet washing if you don't bring your own. Blanket is included. Costs for all lessons: €.250
Lodging and food costs for visitors or companions: €.300
Arrival time: sunday 30 october in the evening. Lessons will start on monday morning.
Departure time: sunday 6 november in the morning. Saturday night is planned the concert in the beautiful San Magno church.
